The Marshall Walther “Major Taylor statute located at the library in Worcester MA. Taylor was the first African American World Champion (1899) in the field of cycling. Taylor born in Indianapolis but a native of Worcester. There are about 70 active Major Taylor Cycling clubs throughout the states and two international cycling clubs.
